What is Rule 1.2 Advocacy?
Rule 1.2 Advocacy (Rule 1.2 Representative Service) refers to support provided under Rule 1.2 of the Court of Protection Rules. This service ensures that individuals who lack capacity to take part in proceedings relating to their deprivation of liberty in the community (Community DoLS) have appropriate representation. A Rule 1.2 Representative is appointed to act on the person's behalf where they are unable to conduct proceedings themselves and no other suitable person is available to represent them.

We can appoint a professional 1.2 representative promptly to ensure that the correct safeguards are in place. Referrals can only be made by professionals.
