Volunteering
with us
If you would like to help us to make a difference, use the Expression of Interest form at the bottom of this page to tell us about you and your experience/skills.
We need volunteers from all backgrounds, whether it be members of our Board of Trustees (who are all volunteers), client facing work (working alongside professional advocate), to back office support (admin).
Due to the nature of our work and the clients we work with, all prospective volunteers will need to be vetted to ensure a good match of your skills and our needs.
Expression of Interest in Volunteering
"The Advocacy People make a difference and I am proud to be part of a team that strives to improve people’s lives."
“My supervising advocate, team manager and colleagues are very supportive. I would describe them all as caring, thoughtful people who are always willing to help me if I ask for it. I love my job!”
“A very supportive organisation who share the values I believe in.”
“Knowing that we've made a difference and given someone a voice even if all desired outcomes are not achieved. Helping people to believe that they are valued and life is worth living.”
Volunteering Roles
There are many exciting and challenging roles across The Advocacy People, for example:
Volunteer Advocates (Health Complaints) - explain the NHS complaints procedure and support people to look at the options and raise the complaint. This might include supporting them to write letters, make telephone calls or attend a meeting.
Networking & Promotion - attending events to help raise our profile and public awareness of who we are and what we do, distributing information and checking that relevant local organisations know about us.
Student placements - we can offer placements to meet course requirements, increase your understanding of advocacy and its impact, and to help hone and improve your skills.
Independent Visiting - supporting and befriending a child or young person in care over a period of at least 2 years to provide a stable and consistent trusted adult in their life. For more about the role please complete the Expression of Interest form.
Admin support - if you have a passion for spreadsheets, creating reports or helping us get organised with admin, we want to hear from you.
