What is a Relevant Persons Representative?
A Relevant Persons Representative (RPR) is a statutory role under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) framework. An RPR is appointed to maintain contact with a person who is subject to a DoLS authorisation in a care home or hospital, and to represent and support that person in matters relating to their deprivation of liberty. Where no suitable family member or friend is available, a professional RPR is appointed.
