Independent Care Act Advocacy

What is Independent Care Act Advocacy?

Independent Care Act Advocacy (ICAA) is a statutory service available under the Care Act 2014. It supports individuals who have substantial difficulty being involved in their care assessment, care planning, care review, or safeguarding enquiries, and who have no appropriate person to support them. An Independent Care Act Advocate ensures that your views and wishes are at the centre of all decisions about your care.

How can Independent Care Act Advocacy help me?

Navigating the social care system can be complex, and it is essential that your voice is heard throughout the process. An Independent Care Act Advocate can attend meetings with you, help you understand your rights, ensure that assessments are carried out properly, and challenge decisions that you feel are unfair or incorrect. They are entirely independent from the local authority and work solely in your best interests.

How can I get Independent Care Act Advocacy support?

If you believe you, or someone you know, would benefit from Independent Care Act Advocacy, please speak to a professional involved to arrange for a referral for advocacy support.
