Mental Health Awareness Week: Pickle
Updated: Aug 20, 2021
As part of this year’s Mental Health Awareness week #ConnectWithNature, our advocate, Jane, shares this lovely picture which combines the relief of visiting a client face to face with how nature can help us connect with our clients.
“As an advocacy team we are encouraged to go for a walk at lunchtime and I often take pictures of trees or waterfowl down by the river. Being outdoors has definitely made a positive difference during a tough year.
This is a picture I took on one of my first care home visits this year when restrictions eased. I had filled out the risk assessments, discussed with care home staff that we could arrange a garden visit, and got the authorisation from my manager. I was really happy to be able to get out and chat with my client, Tom (not his real name), face to face. I listened to Tom talk about how the placement was working out for him and what was important to him about where he lived. And he showed me where the care home's cat, Pickle, likes to sleep in the sun.
So this is Pickle, the Care Home cat, sleeping peacefully in the sun.”
